The Inkas made hundreds of trails in South America and Llactapata is one of the newest of these trails to have been restored by our Peruvian goverment. Now INKA ALTITUDE and our team have designed a program that can bring you to Machu Picchu by this New Inka Trail to Machu Picchu. It meets the need of tourists with only a short time in Cusco, and will help lots more people enjoy the spirit of a hiking tour and the classic visit to Machu Picchu.

DAY 1:GO OVER THE PASS AND ENJOY MACHU PICCHU 

Cusco – Lucmabamba – Hidroelectric – Aguas  Calientes.

  • Pick up from your hotel at 3 am.
  • Let's go to Santa Teresa by our private bus.
  • Energy breakfast.
  • Continue to Lucmabamba.
  • Go up around 3 hours to Llactapata in the forest.
  • Have a different and beautifull views of Machupicchu from Llactapata.
  • Enjoy a delicious lunch.
  • Go down 3 hours approx. to Hidroelectric.
  • Take the train to Aguas Calientes.
  • Dinner and briefing for next day.

DAY 2: THE SECOND TIME IS BETTER “MACHU PICCHU”

Aguas calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

  • Bus from Aguas Calientes to Machupicchu.
  • Enjoy the tour guiding in Machupicchu.
  • Optional climb to Huaynapicchu or Machupicchu Mountain.
  • Take bus down to Aguas Calientes.
  • Take the train to Ollantaytambo.
  •  Bus from Ollantaytambo to Cusco.

Day 1:Cusco – Lucmabamba – Hidroelectrica –Aguas Calientes.

To prepare for the first day we have to sleep early the night before departure. We collect people at 3:00 a.m. with our van and drive from Cusco to Santa Teresa around 4 hours and stop there for a our breakfast. From Santa Teresa we drive 1 hour 30 minutes more to Lucmabamba where we will start our trek. The first part is in the forest for approx 3 hours uphill. You will be able to enjoy the songs of birds, and as we ascend you’ll see beautiful landscapes with views into the Urubambavalley and across to majestic snow-covered mountains.

Ones we arrive at Llactapata you will be able to see part of Machu Picchu and the mountains around it. In Llactapata we will enjoy our lunch in a small local restaurant.

The second part of the trek is downhill for another 3 hours to the hydroelectric station where we will catch the train at 4:30 p.m. for Aguas Calientes (45 minutes).

We have our dinner in Aguas Calientes followed by a briefing for the next day. accommodations will be in the same town.

DURING THE TREK:

  • Maximum Altitude: 2800 meters.
  • Minimum Altitude: 2100 meters.
  • Temperature during day: 17ºC - 25ºC
  • Temperature during night: 13ºC – 15ºC
  • Hiking Distance: 13 km approx.

Day 2: Aguas calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Early morning, after the breakfast at hotel, we will go up by bus to Machu Picchu. You will spend the first two hours in Machu Picchu with our tour. He will show you the main temples and explain to you many things about the history the construction, the discoveries and theories about this Sacred City. After the tour you will enjoy the extraordinary scenery, the energy, and feel the magic of Machu Picchu by yourself. Also if you booked a climb up Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain you will have enough time to walk and have a different views of Machu Picchu Citadel.

When you think you have had enough time exploring Machu Picchu, you can descend to Aguas Calientes village. You will take the bus to Aguas Calientes. Once in the village you can relax in the hot springs (10soles) or enjoy the remarkable vibe of this dynamic little town.

Later in the afternoon you will board the train to Ollantaytambo (1 hour 45 minutes). In Ollantaytambo the driver will be waiting to take you to right to your hotel in Cusco.
